Our History

Our church started in February 28, 1971, in my mom and dad’s home. My mother Mary Carter had tried different churches and finally the Lord led her to start teaching her 6 children in her home. Our very first service we had in our house already had other friends join in. As we continued to have services each Sunday, more and more people wanted to join in (all in God’s Plan). Not long after that my mother told my dad that the Lord wanted her to get her minister’s license if it was ok with him, because she always felt that the man was the head of the home. My dad being a christian and good man of God replied I would be a fool to stand in the way of the Lord if that is his will, so my mother ended up getting her license. Not long after that, we got too many people for my mothers house and had to rent a place for church. The years passed and my dad Bert Carter Sr. had a tugboat business which later he sold his tugboat and boat a church building which we are in as of now. My mother went home to be with the Lord in the year 2000 and my dad in 2003, in which the Lord chose me, Bert Carter Jr. to be pastor of Healing Stream Ministries. Thank the Lord we are still going strong today and God is still teaching us. Church has become a pleasure to us, everyone looks forward to Sunday morning services.
